ReBuild it Green
The ReBuild It Green incentive program is a grant opportunity for any Crestmoor neighborhood homeowner who lost their home to the Glenview Fire.
As the neighborhood begins to rebuild, there has been a growing interest in incorporating green building techniques into the new homes. Green building practices are a proven way to improve energy efficiency and the indoor air quality of a home but require substantial technical assistance. The City has partnered with Gilleran Energy Management to offer the ReBuild It Green incentive program to encourage green building and energy efficiency upgrades in the Crestmoor neighborhood.
A grant of $25,000 is available to homeowners who elect to design their home to be a minimum 35% more efficient than the standard home built to code. This grant is intended to cover the incremental increase in costs for upgraded insulation, windows, heating and cooling equipment, and additional coordination by the contractor and home designer. Typical improvement costs should be completely covered by the base grant. The long-term benefits include lower monthly energy bills and a healthier, greener home.
Homeowners participating at the $25,000 incentive level will also be eligible for additional funding for solar photovoltaic purchase and installation. Renewable energy grants will be available up to one year after construction is completed. For homeowners interested in green building certification, additional grant monies are available.
